Doctors Visit Causes Inspiration
Also many grammar girl pod casts to help my writing. Life is a little different. I still struggle with food, even with have a pretty healthy diet. I still judge myself for my eating habits. I know I'm not fat but I want to feel leaner. I went to the doctors today for a follow up visit for some tests I took back in February 2009. I was avoiding going back because my insurance doesn't cover this kinds of visits. I'm not sure what it does cover. The doctors office said that if I didn't come in then they would not refill my asthma meditation. I've been on asthma medicines since I was five when I was first taken into the emergency room for asthma. Now that I'm thinking about it, I want to ask my mom to tell me her version of that story because I'd like to hear more details. Anyways, I've been on steroids, allergy shots, allergy meds and some form of inhaler or medicine for most of my life for asthma and allergies. I'm down to one medication: albuterol. The Dr. Gross asked "How often do you take your inhaler?" "Almost everyday" I said "But sometimes every other day". Knowing that I'm not supposed to take it that frequently. The doctor said "It's bad for you and your heart, it's not meant to be for that kind of intake". We did some pulmonary test back in February 2009 and we were looking at the results. They were mostly great, except for that the transfer of oxygen to my blood was less then optimal, such as a smokers lungs. She asked me if I smoked and I said no. Which was a lie but I don't want that on my record or my insurance. Plus I had been a month without smoking any tobacco. But I had a life time of smoking pot and more often then not cigarettes. I have been putting a lot of attention to healing my lungs for the last 7 years. I've seen herbalist, been getting acupuncture for years and most recently seeing a naturalpathic, doing cleanses, taking herbs and supplements. I got inspired. I have a goal. I have a track-able goal. Get off my meds.
Now remember, getting inspired in the easy part.
I'm inspired to not smoke anything any more. Its not good for me. I've been off of tobacco for a month now, that is one of the hard parts. Another part is getting leaner and cleaning up my diet more. My biggest challenge is not to eat late. I need to figure out some way that I'm set up for not eating too late. Like having some portion of a protein shake.
I'm inspired to write.
I'm inspired to inspire others and get information out there that can heal others.
Thanks for all the opportunity to learn and grow.

7.27.09 Lesson
The path of healing with food. It’s been on my path for a long time. Passion of Food started when I was a latch key kid. I would walk to the local Chinese market for food for my folks at age 7. It could have been older. My memory is strange and it’s all stories anyways.
As my senses grow more aware, I’m aware that coffee brings on depression. Sugar, anxiety and sadness, gluten- addiction. Unless I’m on some program, cleanse or something. I forget what these foods do to me. My asthma was the best when I was off sugar, coffee, gluten and dairy. I was losing weight on raw. As the last couple of weeks eating what I wanted- which still did not include gluten or cow dairy, I felt the weight come on and the depression come with it. When I was all raw my poops were amazing! Monumental! Grand! The Best Poops Ever! On a regular diet a poop but where as if its not all coming out. And it’s staying in my belly being turned into fat. Now most people wouldn’t consider me fat. I’m fit strong. I swim in the bay. I commute on my bike. Dance and teach yoga and I train as a trapeze artist. But being at the circus does give one a complex. Does test your mental ability as much as your physical. School full of sculpted bodies that your see in the Olympics doing just as amazing things. Its easy to feel fat if you have a smidge of a love handle.
journey on! Everyone!
I know I'm on my path and I know it all perfect. But How many times do I need to learn the coffee lesson or the sugar lesson? Relearning to love myself.
Healing happening.

One of the supplements I'm taking
Triphala is used to promote appetite and digestion, increase the number of red blood cells, and aid in removal of undesirable fat in the body. When dissolved in the mouth, Triphala is used to clear congestion and headaches. Other claimed benefits include helping maintain normal blood sugar levels, as well as improvement in skin tone and colour.

Metabolism Boosting Alkalizing Cleanse
There are some rules that you must follow.
· No Dairy. Hints of Goat cheese is ok.
· No Gluten- that means, no wheat, oats, rye, barley- What you can do is brown rice, quinoa, millet, amaranth, corn, or teff
· No fried foods- this one is tuff on me for sure. I love corn chips and love to fry my tortilla. So I will be making some healthy satisfying substitution. Toast tortillas, jicama –to satisfy my crunch, fall in love with celery,
· Exercise a little before each meal. 20 mins of any combination of jump rope, run in place or abs or pushups or whatever you love. I’m biking, in the morning and for lunch and after work. Lite activity after meals to ad digestion. Playing with kids, Some conscious breathing, walk around the block.
· Have healthy meals- Lots of Salad! Kale Rocks! Lean meats, and eggs ok but small portions. Eat Organic, Seaweed, e3live- Anything green-nettles. Steamed or raw greens. Visit your local farmers markets the mixed greens the farmer have are off the hook. No cooked oils- raw flax. Have your heavy meal be lunch. Sauerkraut, kim chee is awesome and pro-biobotic and will help you absorb more nutrients. Café Gratitude food is awesome, avoid sweet stuff there. Eat to 80% full.
· Have healthy snacks throughout the day- like celery, carrots, kale chips, flax chips, cucumber!
· No sugar, even fruit. The only fruit you can have is grapefruit, berries ok and lemon is awesome in water. No Agave, No dates, No Honey. Watch out for sweeten soymilk, other beverages, catsup. My sweet cheat is Kombucha. Also Gratitude has low glycemic dessert options that are a nice treat, once or twice a week- Supers and Ginger Mighty.
I get to say no to the little sweet offering throughout the day. I am not deprived. I am choosing to feel good in my body. (So you know will have to do some product testing for work of items that contain agave and dates. I promise I will only taste a bite and have others taste for me as well.)
· No Coffee- GREEN TEA—YES. Green tea is awesome for speeding up the metabolism. (I’m going to miss coffee but I’ve done it before.)
· No eating past 6pm.
If you feel hungry late then you can have a serving protein shake that does not have any sugar. There are some hemp and vitamin shakes that are awesome. (This is a big deal you’ll notice a difference right away). Vega is a good brand I like the taste of their stuff.
OR
8 oz serving of warm unsweetened rice or almond milk with Ashwaganda with cinnamon
Ashwaganda is an adapagen. Which will replenish your adrenals, which get tapped when your are stressed or lead a busy life or city life in general. Is good for immunity and has supported me big time through my divorce.
Drink water and tea. Also recommend Tusli tea, ginger, and anything for detox or your liver- dandelion root.
- Fast from the booze and the Santa Maria. – You can smoke as much cigarette as we know that will help you lose weight- just kidding no smokes of any kind.
I’m powerfully choosing this for a month.
This might be kind of extreme. I started this two days ago and got clearer writing this. I feel better already. Last week, I was eating a bagel and eating more sweets, maybe because I knew I was going on a cleanse. I was experiencing depression, doubt, and more comparison than I have in a while. Most of the time I eat close to this. My down fall is eating late at night and eating some items that I have no ability to stop, like chips. I will discover hunger and not run away from it. I honestly not felt hungry for months. Listen to your body, if you need a snack. Protein is the most sasating.
Sleep is important and getting rest is important part of metabolism.
Drink tons of water. Lemon water if you can. Drink tons of green tea. Preference- jasmine pearls and keep pouring hot water over the same tea leaves all day. They will continue to release anti-carcinogenetic affects.
Plan 3 or more work out times for yourself of 45mins to 1.5 - I know I’m asking a lot of your schedule and your life. Take it day by day. I know this will work. Do yoga, walk up a hill, go swimming. I view it a huge priority for me to do what I want in my life. It’s like therapy for me.
